When we chose to get our own site and domain for our webcomic, it was a decision made purely because we wanted complete control. We didn't want someone else making choices about our content or possibly changing their policies mid-stream or even simply one day closing up shop and leaving our comic homeless.

We could've gone with a journaling service or something like Keenspot, but we wanted something we had control over and where we didn't have to put up with odd changes or possible loss of our content.
