Yeah, it's really not my favorite thing ... but at least it should be the last time! Next year I'll be in graduate school making comics. :) That makes it quite a bit more bearable.
Aw, thank you so much! I have a lot of fun filling in tiny little bits like that; one of my favorite things about illustrating other peoples' stories is that I find it inspires me to find better set pieces to fill in the scenarios I imagine from the text. That's harder with original work, somehow.
I went through that for reference images (JJ linked me, naturally), but I haven't actually read it yet. I should! Apart from the Detective Agency portrayal, my main frame or reference for Dewees remains the time I saw him at a Reggie/Leathermouth show a couple years back, screaming out at the crowd in a pair of tiny pink shorts. Still haven't quite adjusted to the dissonance. ;)
