come hell or full circle, our arms filled with miracles

It's a glorious, crisp spring day out; I think I'm going to take my sketchbook down to the harbor for most of the day. It's the first weekend in ages that I haven't had to be off on a bus to somewhere else! Not that those weren't lovely trips, but I'm kind of pleased that this week, I get to sit back and let the fangirls (and my band) come to me.

I've been a little stuck with fanart lately, which is no good when I have charity commissions to be working on! But a few weeks back I pulled out all the thumbnails I did for [personal profile] jjtaylor's The Detective's Secret and the Mystery of the Dancing Flowers back in December and started noodling around. It was nice to have something already planned out to jumpstart myself with! I've been meaning to post a new scene from that story every now and then, so here's another.

This piece was a collaborative effort! The windows in the background were designed by the very talented [personal profile] ataratah, who also makes a fantastic art beta. Thanks, bb. ♥

Frank promises to do his best

I had so much fun with this one, it's ridiculous. The greenhouse may be my favorite setting ever; I love the slightly mysterious, intimate atmosphere of it, and all the tiny bizarre details I get to work in (even though I work so small and shade so much that I'm sure a lot of them are fairly unintelligible).

I really want to do some scenes with other characters in them ... the story has a huge, fantastic cast! I want to show my love for all of them! But as with the bonfire scene, this one just wouldn't let me go. Maybe I can play with Greta or the Governor or even Pete next. When I've finished my [livejournal.com profile] help_japan pieces, that is.

I fucking love this story and this 'verse, though that probably goes without saying at this point.

Okay, time to get off my ass very soon now; I need to make the most of living so close to the water before I go moving to a landlocked state for two years.

THIS IS LOVELY!! I love the composition and all the little details. And Frank's tired and sad expression and his almost-slumped posture is heartbreaking.

More from that verse is always a great surprise! I think you should just draw EVERYTHING.

I know I said this before, but I am utterly in love with your style. I love poor Frank's fearful, worried yet committed expression--such an important moment and you captured it so well! And god don't even get me started on the level of breathtaking detail here--beautiful.
