reflectedeve: Worried Rachel Summers/Phoenix, reaching out to touch a smiling, out-of-costume Kitty Pryde. (checking in - crosstime caper)

we've not yet lost all our graces

Whoops, Chocolate Box reveals are here already! I have so many comments to leave, which I intend to do today. But first, I'm excited to share my all-X-Men slate of contributions. I've been feeling such a fannish resurgence for the last few months, so I ... pretty much could not resist.

So normally I try to spread my treating around more than this (and of course I had more planned than I could actually get to), but ... look. The thing is. I was matched with [archiveofourown.org profile] Edonohana, who had this epic list of X-characters and prompts that spoke directly to my recent fannish cravings. It was Lilith catnip. I couldn't resist.

swept up (X-Men/Excalibur; Rachel/Kitty, G)
Shameless smooching art for my forever OTP! I had too much fun drawing the flame effects, and I wound up playing with a different way of coloring (Kitty's) hair.

recovery & recuperation (X-Men; gen-ish Rachel/Kitty and Illyana/Kitty, G)
Kitty's two traumatized girlfriends take care of HER for a change, whether she likes it or not. A blatant excuse to draw some 80s-era X-costuming and hair styles, among other things.

(only) reflections (X-Men; Illyana & Ororo, G)
An illustration for [archiveofourown.org profile] Edonohana's fic Demons, Doom and Pink Jelly Shoes, which was a Yuletide standout for me this year. Ororo and Illyana do some mall bonding, and trauma is real, but so is hope and appreciating the life you have. That reflection effect with storm and the mannequin was ... challenging.

carry you home (X-Men: The Animated Series; Ororo/Logan, G)
And now for something a bit different! I started drawing this before the sign-up period had even closed, because the image of Storm carrying Wolverine in her arms was just too appealing to pass up. And the nostalgia of revisiting the 90s cartoon designs! Logan's proportions were challenging. I should probably try drawing a few more stocky/muscular dudes now and then.

Also, the [community profile] rarefemslashexchange archive is open now, and worth a look! I do believe I'm going to enjoy wrapping up my much-needed three-day weekend with a lot of fannish appreciation.
