passing time

Hi everyone! I moved! Back into my parents' house, which is ... a little weird, honestly. I'm grateful that it's only temporary, even though that means I have to do the whole thing again (sans most of the packing) in two or three weeks.
Which isn't to say I'm not thrilled to be here, because oh man, I love the Valley. It's all green and quiet in my neighborhood; I woke up early and couldn't hear anything but birds. I've had this real feeling of rightness about all this recently, both visiting here and my destination in Vermont; like I belong in spaces like this, where there are trees and not so much traffic, and going into town means a really good chance of seeing people you know, because there aren't overwhelming numbers of them. I wonder if two years in a place with a population of 2,000 (so much smaller even than home) will make me want to live in a city again, or if this is a more permanent sort of alignment. I guess I'll have to wait and see.
I'm still pretty worn out after two days of schlepping boxes around (my roommate moved out Saturday) and scrubbing the apartment from top to bottom. We actually did all the loading yesterday in the rain, which was extra fun, though at least we didn't get too hot. I am ridiculously lucky to have so many amazing friends who went above and beyond the call of duty to help out. (A certain
ataratah even wandered back and forth across the state and helped scrub down my apartment. ♥) It could have been so much worse.
But yeah, so I'm also still behind on everything, and this is my first proper internet access in several days. I'm going to start catching up slowly, but I also want to get outside and enjoy my hometown, and LJ is refusing to load my flist for the moment. I hope you're all doing well, lovelies; let me know if there's something important that I've missed? ♥
