I misunderstood the point of this ride

I had a wonderful time with the first iteration of MFD; the low-pressure, mutually enthusiastic and encouraging feeling of the whole thing was a breath of fresh air and a source of inspiration to me. Let’s keep that going! I’m so glad you’re here; please know that whatever your skill level or experience is (and these things are SUPER relative, srsly), whatever your style(s)/medium(s) of choice, I can’t wait to see what you make. Making stuff! It’s the best!

I happen to really love prompts, likes, and that sort of thing to play with, so I’m going to try and provide a bunch below, but they are entirely take-them-or-leave-them as far as I’m concerned. I’d appreciate you taking my DNWs into account, but apart from that, please have fun with whichever character, group, ship, setting, etc I’ve requested that catches your fancy. However you like. Oh god. So yesterday I put Labyrinth on while I was drawing, because I have been planning to do one or two pieces of bandom AU art ever since I saw the picture of Pete in this icon (all dressed up for FOB's cover of "Beat It").

If Pete were going to be Jareth, the Ways seemed like obvious casting choices to me. So, you know, some Pete/Mikey snuggling on the Goblin King's throne (Beat It!Pete, Summer of Like era Mikey in the stripes). Plus, an indignant Gerard prancing around in a ridiculous poofy poet shirt . . . that was about all I had planned. (And while the idea was originally mostly about the Pete/Mikey, the more I think about Sarah!Gerard the drama queen, the more gleeful I get. FOR HIS WILL IS AS STRONG AS YOURS, AND HIS KINGDOM IS AS GREAT. *snerk*) For one thing, I am a lot better at drawing people than critters or, say, muppets.

I only made it through about the first third of the film (if that)--and I can still recite all the lines by heart--but now I have an entire cast. (A ridiculous enormous multiband cast! With most of them as muppets!) /o\ One huge cracked-out fandom fusion art project, coming right up! (This is going to take me awhile. Maybe I'll stay in for the three-day weekend and just draw.)

How is this my life?

It's just one uproar after another in fandom this week. First this debacle (which I'd have posted about, but thought it was a better time for listening), and now strikethrough all over again.

I really don't want to move. Aside from the recent obvious, I really like livejournal; it's familiar and easy to use, and we're all so centralized here. I can't really see any prospect for this wholesale fandom exodus people keep talking about. We'll just scatter, and it'll take ages for a new system to really get built up.

I expect that, should people or communities I love leave, I'll follow them. I'll probably stay here as well . . . we'll see. (I have deleted the one post I had with Kim Possible smut-art on it. Doubt it would have been a problem, but I didn't like the pictures much anyway.)

Not that I'm really likely to ever finish these, but here's a small handful of snippets from old WiPs (all at least a year or two old), for your amusement (in accordance with the meme that's been going around). Does not include any of the "WiPs" I have lying around that are just a title and maybe a couple of bullet-point notes.

My stories are all kind of . . . stiff. Not very organic at all. I'm so much better at writing partly in pictures. (Which I am fortunately doing more of, in other spheres.) Which is why I will soon be bringing you something better . . . a massively updated recs-page. My laptop has to be fixed first, though.
