Hey, absolutely, this is very interesting! I'm not familiar with most of your choices, but oh yes, Katy and the Big Snow. Virginia Lee Burton's work was generally pretty brilliant; I have a special place in my heart for The Little House as well.
Ooh, yeah, I have never been a favorite of librarians either. I was always taking out more than my share of the Seuss titles at that age.
