I mean, I do feel fannish, it's just ... very visual? IDK! (Also very multi/small-fandom centric, but that's not unusual for me.)
It is weird! The fondest wish of my comics fan heart for so many years was to see queerness among long-standing characters, rather than just new ones invented with that in mind. (Not that I didn't enjoy those, but in the '00s especially, I didn't trust that they would stick around or get the complex development that established characters had.)
I'm not following any cape books regularly at the moment (though I keep seeing things I'd like to pick up), but I keep getting the impression that the big corporate interests have turned their attention so completely to screen media, and there's been such an influx of new creative blood into the comics side of things, that we have a bunch of queer creators with similar history/sensibilities to mine getting to play almost freely and canonize/make explicit their own long-time interpretations. I'm finding it cathartic, even though my own most deeply-held OTP seems likely to remain subtextual.
