come on, play another song

Yesterday, I was sitting in a cafe drawing with
ataratah when some excited tweets led to us looking at Brendon Urie in a thong ... which I only just now realize, I did nothing to shield the establishment's other patrons from. Um. I've missed fandom? Hi! I've been pretty busy visiting with old friends and dancing at the wedding of my former epic adolescent infatuation, but I need a little more internet time.
Speaking of NSFW imagery ... I have been working on something to share with you guys! Way back in March,
glitteryv won a two-page fancomic, which I have finally completed. The following is a scene from her Due South/Down With Love fusion, DONE With Love:

This was definitely a challenge to create! I'm still not at all sure I did either Fraser or Kowalski justice (they're each quite difficult in their own way). It was, however, a particularly intriguing exercise in adapting from someone else's words - not just illustrating them, but retelling a piece of story visually. It's something I'd like to try more of.
I may not try to draw a cable-knit sweater again any time soon, though. Ow.
Thanks again to
glitteryv for your generous bid on
help_japan!
I feel like my juices are finally flowing again after a good month of art slump (all that transition just doesn't do anything for me creatively). I am ready to make ALL THE COMICS ... very very soon. :D
Now I need to go try and get things set up with my electrical company from a state away, since my new roommate is moving into the apartment a week ahead of me.

Date: 2011-09-06 11:08 pm (UTC)This is absolutely gorgeous!! That's one of my favorite fics, and you've illustrated it wonderfully. The expressions and characters and clothes (omg, that sweater!) are all fabulous. I was going to say it's all exactly how I imagined it from the fic, but it's not really, it's better. This is how I will imagine it from now on.
...And is it wrong that I find myself extremely attracted to cartoon!RayK?
