I very much do not approve of this weather, New England. It's not as bad as last year was around this time, but still. Please to be commencing with autumnal crispness.

I spent a lot of last week seeing people off at the airport and thinking about what I'm doing with my own life. (September has this effect on me. I doubt I'll ever grow out of the academic-year mindset completely, given that I grew up inside it, and working at a school certainly doesn't help.) This year has been intensely transitional for me (moved out of my parents' house at long last, got a proper full-time job at an appropriate pay/experience level, had my best friend leave the country for quite awhile), so I've mostly been dealing with that, and not actually working much on my goals for the future. I need to start doing that now, because nine months in academic administration has been more than enough to confirm that this is not exactly the career path I'm looking for.

Also, I've signed up to take a course at the Harvard Extension School, because I feel as though some part of my brain has atrophied. I'm a little nervous about my first class, on Thursday--it's been two and a half years, meep--but also yay.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to moderate my online time just a little bit, because if I let myself, I pretty much tend to sit in front of the screen doing nothing all day long. /o\ This isn't conducive to anything productive (even fanart). Of course, I say this just as holiday exchanges are starting up, but oh well.

I need more tea; I stayed up rather late last night working on fanart and [livejournal.com profile] intensityboat t-shirt designs, ahaha. Can't sleep when it's this muggy anyway. (The last few episodes of "The Middleman" kept me company. OMFG THAT SHOW IS INCREDIBLE. If you haven't watched it yet, why not?) Also, note to self: must send [livejournal.com profile] sweetvalleyslut those pictures of Gerard's new hair, which she has not seen yet.

Toro was at a Leathermouth show this weekend? I has such a jealousy.

From the Hebrew Bible to Judaism, from the Old Testament to Christianity (http://www.extension.harvard.edu/2008-09/courses/13081.jsp). It pretty much sounds like academic candy (for me), but I think it will prove stimulating. :) I always have a lot of artistic inspiration when I'm in a religion class, also.

I will have to share my learnings with you. It's been awhile since we had much religion discussion!

Trufax!

I was thinking that getting to take classes by proxy is definitely a bonus of having awesome friends. And it has been seriously too long since we have hung out, period.

Truest of fax. We definitely need to hang out soon. I have to figure out when I'm free; there are a lot of vaguely percolating plans (with folks who need to be pinned down).

*shares the Middleman love*

[livejournal.com profile] themiddleblog has annotations for some of the episodes, and that's fun in itself.
