Work is kind of over-the-top crazy this month . . . which is good, I guess, since it seems to have jump-started my creativity in a serious way. Provided I can actually finish any of it (there's such a thing as too many new ideas), there should be an awful lot of fanart from me in the future. (Maybe once I get that out of my system, I can also make some progress with my original work . . . heh.)

On the other hand, I was going to post some photos from my vacation, but I seem to have run out of steam for dealing with that. Maybe later? I also (perhaps wisely) decided against uploading my shots of the terrifying furry Orangina ads that were all over Paris. (They are, however, quite googleable if you feel like scarring yourselves.)

Also, you know, it's a new year, and thank goodness for that. 2008 was pretty rotten for me, except in one respect: it was sort of a time of fannish renewal (go figure). I started out the year feeling really cranky in general, but also specifically towards Stargate: Atlantis, which was still my "main" fandom. I was in a really bitter place about the poor quality of the show's writing and particularly about the treatment of female characters, and I just could not seem to dredge up any further interest in John/Rodney fic. I'd been really into From Eroica With Love and following the translated volumes avidly, but I was disappointed in the fic; and I felt the same (but even moreso) about Avatar: The Last Airbender. Didn't draw a line of fanart (or much of anything else) for more than three months.

Of course, then I finally caved into bandom, and the rest is . . . well, that's pretty much all I've done since, and I can't say I regret it. Not at all; bandom (for all its quirks and wank and issues) has really reminded me what it's like to love being in fandom, even to participate more than I have in years. I'll probably check out Merlin eventually (if only because there are girls), and I always have all my old favorites and my tiny [livejournal.com profile] yuletide fandoms, but I'm having a lot of fun where I am right now. :) Which is great, because fandom almost stopped being fun for a little while there.

Meanwhile I finally read Staring Through The Demons, and then last night [livejournal.com profile] jjtaylor's The Old Straight Track. ♥ Could I be any more on the edge of my seat? *g*
