reflectedeveI've just learned that my paternal grandmother passed away this morning. Well, timing.
I'm all right (really); we were honestly never close, and while this wasn't expected down to the minute, neither was it a shock. She has been in mental and physical decline for years. However, she was the only living member of my father's immediate family (he lost his own father and both siblings quite young), and they had a complicated relationship throughout his life, so this is going to be a very difficult time for him, and for my family. Also not a great time to be away from my job.
It's some small mercy that she lived in Lowell, so there won't really be travel to handle along with everything else. I wish my brother was here, though, instead of in Thailand for another two months. He's going to be devastated.
