I'm going to send you parts of the pimp post I sent Rel, because that sort of narrows down the things you should read/watch. And I will send you music--I know you need GINASFS (which is an IOH bonus track, or extra British track, or something) and Greta singing "Baby It's Cold Outside"...hm. Tell me if you have any specific thoughts or I'll just send you whatever. You need "Prison," too, but that falls under the category of "really, REALLY not appropriate for work," sadly.

Yay pimping post. And actually, hon, I have both GINASFS and "Prison" now (though not along with me in any form--the song-dump CD I made Saturday morning is mostly music I've had for ages, except for "Bang the Doldrums" and "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs"). I work fast. ;) What should I listen to from Cobra's first album, FOB's previous albums (I actually have all of Cork Tree, but I'm not sure I'm keeping all of it), and Sweet Revenge? (I have a few songs from each, but.) And I could use some more Academy Is, though I gave the ones you sent before another listen, and I'm not wild about it.

I definitely need more Greta, if there is some. I'm thinking of giving "So Sudden" a try after all; I know you said it wasn't impressive, but I'm thinking I ought to at least hear it. (Also, have you seen this picture (http://www.friendsorenemies.com/web/foe/photos/thehushsound/?id=40896571&p=2)? *g*)

Sadly, I can't get Friends or Enemies videos to play on my laptop either. WTF. I did manage to find the tire-changing episode on YouTube, though, and god, so in love.

You do work fast :) Hm, I don't have any earlier Cobras. And if you don't like TAI... there's really no reason to listen to their music, since people do not generally write fic about them. I don't have too many songs from Take This To Your Grave either. LOL bad bandfan. I do like "Saturday" (obviously) and "Where is Your Boy" but that one's probably too pop-y for you. It's almost too pop-y for *me,* except that I totally adore it anyway. "Chicago is So Two Years Ago" and "Dead On Arrival" are the other songs from that album that people generally like. Oh and then there's the Christmas song "Yule Shoot Your Eye Out" which is from that era and is kind of hilariously emo.

Bullets: "Headfirst for Halos" makes me SO HAPPY. Which is possibly a little messed up, but there you are. I haven't listened to most of the others enough to judge.

Three Cheers: "Helena" (duh), "Give 'Em Hell, Kid," "Hang 'em High," "Thank You For the Venom" are all kind of essential, and I love "I Never Told You What I Do For A Living," in which they are hitmen. Or something.

Black Parade: If you don't already have it, you should listen to "House of Wolves" which as far as I can tell is about an evil priest.

Let me know if you enjoy So Sudden and maybe I'll give it another try, but it was just a little too far on the side of dreamy indie for me. That picture is amazing, though, oh Greta.

Have you tried using a different browser to watch these things? That sometimes works for me.

*looks at lyrics* *raises eyebrows* Well, I remembered to download that one, so I will have to see. ;p The only one of your Three Cheers recs that I have is "Helena" (because yes, duh), so I'll have to get ahold of the others. I have all of Black Parade except for "Mama," because of my random issues. (I'd really like to read some interviews about Black Parade, because the concept stuff will keep nagging at me.)

Hm, I'll try and find the BP booklet online for you. I mean, there's roughly ten million video interviews where Gerard rambles about the patient and What It All Means but that's the one where they actually go in depth on each song. I haven't read it all the way through because it's sad and creepy and I haven't really felt like going there, so I'm not sure how much more concept stuff there's going to be--I mean, I feel like just like Three Cheers this album started as a concept album and ended up being about more personal stuff. There's songs that were obviously written for that concept, and songs that probably weren't but you can still squeeze them into it, and then ones that just don't go with anything else at all.

Yeah, I've always used Firefox to watch FoE and buzznet and it's been fine. But I can't watch some things, like the Comedy Central website, and I use IE for that.

*nod* It's just that I want to know what they were trying to do, even if they deviated/didn't succeed. There's a real sense of intent to some of those tracks, and it nags at me. Probably won't want to dwell on it, because I fully expect sad and creepy, but I seem to be incapable of listening to music without thinking about what it's about (at least a little).

And, yes, having friends sit me down and show me LotMS and a bajillion youtube clips was part of my downfall, as well. I was doing ok, getting to like FOB, and then my friends had to go and show me how MCR wants to save lives.

Damn. *g* Welcome to the insanity; it's actually rather enjoyable, in the end.

*laughs* I held out for a year! I should've known this was going to happen sooner or later. It was a progression of sorts: there was listening to a years' worth of conversation and squee from my best friend (grumbling all the way), reading Umbrella Academy, falling in love with the Hush Sound (oh Greta), and listening to "Teenagers" a whole lot, even though it was the only MCR song I had for ages . . .

Then I liked the new Panic album. And one of my other friends posted band femslash and had one of the "characters" comment on her story . . . which she handled very gracefully, by writing some rather brilliant meta.

Finally, the same friend wrote lovely Pete/Mikey/Alicia, and finally introduced me to a FOB song that I could love instantly, and the next thing I knew, well. Three straight hours of video, at least, and so much music that I've barely started listening to.

I'm definitely having fun! My only real regret is that it took me this long, and that consequentially I'm not going to the Honda Civic concert in Boston with

sweetvalleyslut. Alas. I'm much consoled by the fic, however. ^^

Oh, Greta...I think if I ever saw her and Amanda Palmer from the Dresden Dolls together, my ovaries would explode. They are both so completely my type...although I was a bit taken aback to find out that Greta is only 20. Amanda's more in my age group.

Are you not going to the HCT out of lack of time or lack of ticket? If it's the latter, I'm 90% certain one of my friends has an extra. Let me know!

I know, Greta is younger than my brother. It disturbs me. I can't help myself, though (particularly not with the sexy new maturity of her vocals on "Goodbye Blues"). I'm much in agreement about Amanda, also (the Dresden Dolls being the one "bandom" band I've loved since well before I'd heard of the fandom). Actually, someone I know has several times mentioned that she might try writing lengthy, porny Amanda/Greta, and I feel faint just thinking about that. (I tend to stick to pairings with some substantiation, but I'm willing to stretch it for femslash, particularly between my two favorites in all of bandom . . . who barely get written about as it is. At least I know that they've met.)

It was odd to me when I realized that the DD were somehow connected to bandom -- I'm the same way, having loved them for years, and basically otherwise being pretty ignorant of pop music. (I'm generally clueless about it, still.) Sheesh, I think I first saw the DDss at the Flywheel in Easthampton.

It's been interesting to go back and read Amanda's journals from when the DDs were touring with Panic...now I actually know who these boys are, above and beyond "the band whose fans were jerks to Brian and Amanda." She writes quite a bit about Ryan at one point, and, around the same time, also writes about meeting Gerard Way.

Yeah, we've had the same problem with the Boston tickets. Four of us have VIP tickets, but I'm not sure we're sitting anywhere near each other...

OK, now I really want to go to a Dresden Dolls concert, too, and they've only announced West coast dates so far. Maybe I'll try to go see Amanda at the Boston yoga conference.

And, yes, please encourage your friend to write Greta/Amanda; I would be a very avid and grateful reader. There isn't enough femslash in bandom!
