Well, I finally got to one of those female-character-centric fanart prompts from a couple weeks ago ... [personal profile] were_duck wanted Allison/Lydia. Not a thing that takes much convincing, although for some reason it came out intensely fluffy. I guess I was just in the mood?

I'll definitely do more of those! Probably spaced out in between other projects. I always want to do more female character-centric fanart ... you could pretty much prompt me for it anytime.

Also, I was toying with the idea of going to see Man of Steel, but now I'm not, because I want THIS movie and it doesn't exist. (There is awesome fanart, though!) I have a lot of feelings about Superman, okay. And possibly even more about Lois Lane. Everything (canon) DC-related is making me want to stick my fingers in my ears and go LA LA LA, lately.

Appropos of nothing whatsoever, I stopped watching the fourth season of Community after the second episode. Should I give it another try? I mean, I'm going to want to watch the fifth season now that Harmon's coming back.

Second day of the [community profile] snowflake_challenge, and bah, I'm already late. I got kind of distracted today with reading Hallucinations, by Oliver Sacks. (Graphic novel research! Eeee.) And rewatching some of Downton Abbey Season 2 with my mother.

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.

I spent the latter half of the year devouring Teen Wolf fic, which um, could hardly be considered rare or lesser known in the slightest. But I really wanted to try and rec some things that are a little more out of the way! So that was my approach here. That and podfic, because that has been my primary mode of fannish intake this year. Podfic has gotten me through so many hours of toiling away at comic pages, it's untrue. Have some appreciation!

I have a lot of feelings about fanwork, you guys. Also, it's so time for bed. G'night!

Oh hi, internet. It's been awhile. ♥

I'm actually still pretty snowed under with all this real-life business at the moment; grad school application is coming along nicely, I think, but there's a lot of it, particularly since I've sort of assigned myself extra work. The last month and a half or so has been a period of stepping-up for me, comics-wise, which feels great. (Sorry for vagueness; I'll probably make a locked post about original comics stuff in the near-ish future.)

I can't wait for November, though. Can't think when I've said that before, but it's going to be an amazing month for all kinds of fannish stuff. I can't decide what I'm more excited for, really; a new Batwoman comic, KILLJOYS, or that one new fic someone fabulous is currently finishing up. ;) Not to mention having time to read fic again, and draw fanart! I can't wait to get started on my [livejournal.com profile] yuletart assignment, which includes a choice between several fandoms I've been meaning to draw for long since.

If my [livejournal.com profile] yuletart person stops by: thank youuu. ♥ I think I probably gave you enough to be getting on with in my sign-up comment, so I'm not going to write out a lot of detail here. I can't wait to see what you come up with, though. :D

Staying out of [livejournal.com profile] yuletide is definitely the right choice this year, but I'm still excited as always to see what comes out of it, particularly since I've been enjoying some new/small TV fandoms of late. Well, I could be wrong; is Community small? I never looked for fic after the first season, but now I want all the Troy/Abed. And surprisingly, Annie/Troy/Abed. (Oh god, the chloroform scene. I couldn't breathe for laughing.)

Also, is anyone watching Nikita? I'm not quite caught up, but JFC, Maggie Q. *_* There are all kinds of problems with the show, but with (count 'em - sigh) four interesting female characters who actually interact, there's a lot I can get past. I can't decide what fic I want yet, but I'm definitely getting a fannish feeling. As long as the fic's focused on the women, that is; could not give less of a damn about Michael and his gratuitous manpain.

I have to run, but on my way out the door, a quick rec for the only fic I've read in ages: [personal profile] jjtaylor's Born To Motorbabies. A glimpse at the Killjoysverse that deals more in tangled emotions than rayguns, though there's a little of those too; sweet, hot, and a bit wrenching. It's a tantalizing first taste, and I want so much more (fic, album, comic).

Oh hi, flist. I've been away from most of my usual internet haunts lately. How are you guys doing? (Seriously, tell me something - if you feel like it. ♥)

This isn't to say I haven't been particularly fannish lately, though. I had a [livejournal.com profile] sweetvalleyslut over the weekend (too jetlagged and sleepy to be a mirage, I'm happy to say), which resulted in watching a whole bunch of Community, and also High School Musical. The former is full of awesome, as reported! I made particularly embarrassing noises during the episode where Abed dressed up as was Batman. :D (As for HSM, um. I'm not ashamed: I can always enjoy a little Kenny Ortega choreography. I really need to talk my roommate into watching Newsies with me now.)

We also tried watching the first episode of Rizzoli & Isles, because good female partnership-focused television is basically all I want out of the world (that's a lie, but still I really want that); unfortunately, neither of us particularly like that whole procedural/cop show formula with the MOUNTING TERROR and rapist serial killers (not to mention, annoying male FBI agent love interests), so we didn't even finish the episode. It was slashy, but not really enough to make the rest worth it, which was disappointing.

That's okay, though, because White Collar is back and amazing. More on that later, maybe, but for now - oh man, ♥Diana♥.

I should get back to work, but um, I finally deleted my old, languishing OKCupid account this weekend, and set up a new one. I'm being stupidly nervous about that! Apparently I read like I was dreamed up by a "lesbian think tank." I think this was intended as a compliment?
